Han blev født den 23 oktober 1849, døbt i kirken den 6 januar 1850, søn af tømmermand Lars Peter Sørensen og hustru Gjertrud Marie Jensdatter af Halbak. Faddere: meget svære at læse. (Kilde: Vester Hassing kirkebog 1835-1856, opslag 32, Aalborg amt).
Søren Peter & John Peter & Lars Christian Sørensen were sons of Lars Peter Sorensen and Gertrude Marie Jensen. They were born in Vester Hassing, Aalforg, Denmark and came to Utah in 1869 with their stepmother. Because of hard times the boys left their home in Ovid, Idaho, and lived together in Montpelier, Idaho. They farmed north of town and lumbered in Montpelier Canyon, and did various other labors for hire. Lars Christian was of poor health and died at the age of 18 years.
John Peter married Sena Catherine Mikkelsen of Logan, Utah. October 10, 1879 and moved to Lago, Idaho where they prospered. The beautiful home they built there is still being lived in today. They were the parents of fifteen children: Jane, John C., Nelse L., Junius M., Ephriam A., Willard H., Sena Gertrude, Mary, Nellie, Vera, Frances, Ina, Ada, Wesley A., and Edna.
Søren Peter Married Margaret Jensen in Mendon, Utah on June 15, 1878. They made their home in Montpelier, Idaho. Nine children were born to this union. Margaret Elnora, Amy Gertrude, Laura May, Louis Peter, Mary Johannah, Cora, Elizabeth, Wilford Oliver, Esther, and Nina Winona. Their mother died October 30, 1900 while still young. Then he married Harriett Jorgensen. He later moved to Albion, and Twin Falls, Idaho. Soren was a tall man and had thick brown hair, and a mustache and a beard. He died May 20, 1938 and was buried in Twin Falls, Idaho.
