Han blev født den 30 september 1847, døbt i kirken den 6 januar 1848, søn af gårdmand Peter Christian Munk og hustru Margrethe Charlotte Nørgaard i Mosen.
Faddere: pigen Inger Nørgaard i Stejlberg, gårdmand Axel Jensen i Skovsgaard, Christen ? og ungkarl Søren Sørensen af Skovgaard.

He was adventurous, arriving in this country with little; he acquired a ranch and stagecoach and work in Montana and the Black Hills of South Dakota during its gold rush. There is no evidence he had children, but his sister, BEATHE MUNCK LARSEN immigrated with her husband SOREN LARSEN and children, including MARGARETHE. It is was to Margarethe he went and lived out the last days of his life, dying in Albert Lea, Minnesota. He left behind a wonderful story of adventure and gold rings made from a piece of quartz given to him by Wild Bill Cody (in exchange for transportation). The rings are in the possession of of his niece Margarethe's descendants. Margarethe is known as "Grandma Pete" as her married name of Petersen.
